Do Women Have More Sexual Fantasies When They Are Ovulating?

Several studies have shown changes in sexual attitudes and behaviors of women during ovulation. For example, research suggests that ovulating women choose to wear sexy revealing clothes and move their bodies in ways that are considered more attractive by men.

These findings may help explain why exotic dancers tend to earn more during this phase of the menstrual cycle! Other research has found that ovulation changes the characteristics of heterosexual women find attractive in men. Based on these results, a new study suggests that ovulation also changes how often women think about sex as well as the content of their sexual fantasies.

Twenty heterosexual women completed an online journal every day for a month. Each day, these women were asked to describe the number of sexual fantasies that they had during the previous day and report on the content of those fantasies.

All women were 18-30 years old and were not currently in a long term relationship. In addition, none of the women were in any form of hormonal contraception. A urine test is used in order to confirm exactly when each was ovulating women during the course of the study.

In general, women reported having more sexual fantasies while ovulating. The fantasies around ovulation are more likely to present men. However, this does not mean that fantasies became more sexual. In fact, during ovulation, the sexual content of the fantasies of women actually dropped, while the emotional content increases!

In summary, ovulation appears to increase the frequency with woman has sex on the brain, however, while the large number of sexual fantasies increases during ovulation, these fantasies actually appears to be less focused on the sexual act itself.
